Choosing a meaningful song

  • Published June 15th, 2012 by Mary Lou Guinn

Last week, the wedding in Auburn WA for Chris & Tara was a blast. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was the traditional Father of the Bride & Bride dance. The song choice was beautiful and left me tearful,  watching as Tara and her father swayed and floated around the dance floor. The song was "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman. I've heard the song many times and know the words well, but somehow when I saw the words come to life in this precious moment I got choked up. At the end of the dance how sweet it was so see and photograph a teary eyed father hug and give his daughter a kiss on the check.

Of course there were so many tender and sweet moments it would be impossible to share them all, but I wanted to share this one because it was the one that made me smile and wipe my eyes from the tears of joy.

So, have you chosen your song for the father / bride dance? There are many to choose from, but here is a quick list that you can consider:

  • Because you Love me - Celine Dion
  • If this world was mine - Luther Vandoross
  • Through the eyes of my father - Brianna Haynes
  • A fathers love - John Fluker
  • A song for my daughter - Ray Allaire
  • A whole new world - Peobo Bryson
  • A wink and a smile - Harry Connick Jr
  • Always be my baby by Mariah Carey
  • Better Love - Garth Brooks
  • Blessed - Elton John
  • Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle
  • From this Moment - Shania Twain
  • Forever Young - Rod Stewart
  • I Cross my Heart - George Strait
  • I loved her First - Heartland
  • I will always love you - Dolly Parton
  • Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder
  • Just the way you are - Billy Joel
  • Lady - Kenny Rodgers
  • Love will keep us alive - Eagles
  • My Father's Eyes - Amy Grant
  • My Little Girl, Tim McGraw
  • Over the Rainbow - IZ
  • Remember when - Alan Jackson
  • The way you look tonight - Frank Sinatra
  • Through the years - Kenny Rodgers
  • Unforgettable - Nat & Natalie Cole
  • What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
  • Wind Beneath my Wings - Bette Midler
  • When you say nothing at all - Ronan Keating
  • You & I - Stevie Wonder
  • You are so Beautiful - Joe Cocker
  • You raised me up - Josh Groban
  • You are loved - Josh Groban

There are so many more but here are a few of my favorites !
